Rushton and Blake Caparello, who will be Michael Zerafa's head trainer in Wednesday's middleweight boxing bout in Brisbane in the absence of Sam La Bruna, have taken pot shots at each other throughout the fight's build-up.

Horn has stayed out of the heated exchanges, saying he wanted to let his fists do the talking.

"I'm happy to be the bad cop and let him (Horn) be the good cop and take the heat and just let him be chilled and relaxed," Rushton told AAP.

Caparello and Zerafa insist Rushton doesn't have the technical knowledge to alter Horn's style, after the Victorian stopped the former WBO welterweight champion in August.

Rushton pointed to his success with amateur fighters as well as steering Horn to a famous win over the legendary Manny Pacquiao and the WBO title..

"It's crazy, our record is phenomenal," Rushton said.

"What I did with Jeff and our other boxers coming through, it (the Zerafa camp's criticism) is just ridiculous."

Rushton said Horn didn't need to make major adjustments to his style and he had concentrated on other areas.

"Diet, attitude and fitness; they are going to be the biggest things, that's where we knew we could make the most (difference)," Rushton said.

"We can't dramatically change Jeff's style, but the style works.

"He fought and beat the best in the world, he became world champion, so you can't knock the process, you can't knock his style of boxing it's very effective."
