And, it's very fitting considering the Hunter - and most of NSW, is battling one of the worst droughts in living memory.
"Everything needs water is our theme," Maitland Showground manager Brett Gleeson said.
"It's quite appropriate given the conditions."
Hunter Water has signed on as a gold sponsor of the show and will use the opportunity to help raise awareness about water restrictions.
"When the board told me what the theme was I said I'd speak to Hunter Water," Mr Gleeson said.
"They are looking at bringing educational activations to the show which will be a new aspect. They have an educational activation in development at the moment and the first time it will be seen in public is at Maitland Show."
Mr Gleeson said Hunter Water also had a range of educational material they could bring to inform the community.
"We're in the middle of a drought at the moment so this sponsorship is very relevant at the moment," he said.
"We all need to be thinking about saving water."
The 2020 show will take place on February 14, 15, and 16 at Maitland Showground.
Mr Gleeson said sponsorship helped ensure the show continued to be a part of the city's calendar.
"There's so much to like about the show," he said.
"I like seeing the inter-generational connections - grandparents coming to the show with their grandkids and passing on their knowledge and connections, and passing on Australian heritage.
"Shows are a unique event, unlike a music festival or a car race. They offer something unique and I think they've got a strong place here for a long time to come."
