Price sits 12 minutes and nine seconds plus a two minute penalty behind leader American Ricky Brabec, from the Monster Energy Honda team.
Brabec's teammates José Ignacio Cornejo Florimo and Kevin Benavides finished first and second respectively on stage four, with Ross Branch and Paulo Gonclaves third and fourth.
Price had started the stage in sixth overall after Dakar Rally officials modified results after stage three because of GPS technical difficulties.
"Crazy amounts of different terrain and dusty conditions have made for another tough day, a real reminder that we're at the Dakar Rally," Price said.
"As tough as today was I'm happy to have a consistent day with only a couple of little mistakes, we're sticking to our plan and are in a great position with plenty more racing ahead of us.
"I just need to stay focused and stick to my guns, with navigation being so damn full on my brain is fried and actually makes me feel like I do have some brains up there but in all seriousness, we're having fun and healthy for stage five."
