Kurri Kurri Speedway Club will make history when it conducts the Yamaha TT Masters at its Loxford venue on Saturday, January 18
The club is broaching new territory by hosting flat track motorcycle racing at its speedway venue for the first time as well as providing record prize money for the event.
"We are planning to build on the value of our venue to the community in 2020 and this flat track event is the first step," said club president, Peter Campton.
"We have provided opportunity for our local speedway riders and many of those have gone on to national and international success. So now we are doing the same for riders from other disciplines."
The layout will be primed for drama on the Kurri Kurri Speedway track with right and left hand corners and jumps. The layout will utilise the existing senior speedway track as well as including a section of the junior speedway track.
TT events play to the versatile skill sets developed in other forms of motorcycle disciplines and the Yamaha TT Masters has attracted riders from dirt track, motocross, enduro and speedway.
Current Australian dirt track champion Jarred Brook is just one of the high profile riders who have entered. The Gympie rider dominated the 2019 National Dirt Track Titles and is expected to be one of strong contenders along with fellow Queenslander Max Whale.
Both Brook and Whale have competed in American Flat Track events in recent years and will spend more time in the USA in 2020.
Former Australian champions Paul Caslick, Luke Richards, Mick Kirkness and Marty McNamara join the list of super talented dirt track riders.
But the dirt track stars won't have things all their own way in the chase for the big prize money. Local stars Mason Campton and Alan Macdonald will swap "speedway saddles" with "Motocross seats" and another local high profile rider to swap "codes" will be enduro star,Beau Ralston.
Events for MX450 and MX250 bikes will highlight the program with support events for Juniors and Cobra Bushman.
Racing is scheduled to get underway at 3:30pm with the finals of each division to be decided under lights.
