That's what the Night Time Industries Association says before the city's controversial lockout laws are rolled back on Tuesday.

But emergency and health workers fear a return to higher rates of drunken violence on Sydney's streets.

The laws, which were introduced in 2014 after the deaths of one-punch victims Thomas Kelly and Daniel Christie, will be lifted everywhere except Kings Cross.

Association chair Michael Rodrigues said it was a "turning point" for the city to get it back on track.

"It's fantastic, the city will entertain locals and visitors in a diverse and inclusive nightlife without being rushed around venues closing early," he said in a statement on Monday.

"It's the beginning of Sydney getting its mojo back."

Lord Mayor Clover Moore declared: "Sydney is open again."

"We know the lockout laws were an overreaction when what we needed was 24-hour public transport and a stronger liquor licensing system to support well-run venues, penalise rogue ones, and spread venues out across the city," she said in a statement.

NSW Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres says removing the lockout laws is "a positive step towards fully embracing a true 24-hour economy befitting a global city like Sydney".

"We want people to enjoy themselves while acting responsibly and looking out for each other," he told AAP in a statement.

But Health Services Union NSW secretary Gerard Hayes says paramedics and emergency services workers are bracing themselves for an increase in late-night violence.

"Alcohol causes more harm to more Australians than any other drug," Mr Hayes said in a statement on Monday.

"Without any doubt, there will be more people assaulted, more people hurt, and more lives damaged by winding back these sensible restrictions on the supply of alcohol at night."

The Police Association of NSW raised the same concerns with acting president Kevin Morton saying the lockout laws were "very modest".

"Our focus continues to be on the side of putting the safety of the community, and the safety of emergency services workers, first," he told AAP in a statement.

Sydney venues welcomed the changes including the Oxford Art Factory which said it will work to ensure the changes keep Sydneysiders safe.

"January 14 is a day in history when we, as providers of all things music and culture, are able to come back to some semblance of how we used to operate successfully five years ago," OAF chief executive Mark Gerber said in a statement.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian in November announced the changes which will also remove restrictions on serving cocktails, shots and drinks in glasses after midnight, and scrap the 10pm curfew on bottle shops.

The last drinks curfew will be extended by 30 minutes to 3.30am, an extension which goes against the 3am curfew recommended by doctors.
