Price moved up to third outright and starts Wednesday's marathon stage 26 minutes and 43 seconds behind Brabec.
He said it was a pleasing result given conditions did not cater for making up much time.
"Another long stage today covering 410km wide open at top speed, with the stage been so fast it is really difficult to make any time up on other competitors due to us all being able to follow and do much the same," Price said.
"That said, I'm happy to have that stage behind me and now I can really focus on the small number of remaining days to try and close this gap up to the lead, bring in the marathon stage tomorrow."
There are three stages remaining in the Dakar Rally with stage 10 a marathon 608km and stage 11 an even longer 744km before the rally closes with the 447km stage 12.
