The Pickers are still waiting on the decision from the NSW Rugby League on an appeal to overturn the Newcastle-Central Coast Regional Rugby League management's decision to reject Maitland's bid to run under-16 and 17 teams in 2020 and beyond.
Maitland coach Matt Lantry said irrespective of the decision the club was committed to the development of junior players in the district .
Thursday's session runs from 5-6pm at the Maitland Sportsground and follows a successful initial session in December which attracted about 20 youngsters and their parents.
"Unfortunately, we are in this debate about Maitland having 16s and 17s and the one group not being listened to are the kids and the parents," Lantry said.
"It's not a minority, it's a majority and sometimes our game worries more about the five per cent of our population rather than the bigger portion.
"It's disappointing with where it's at, but hopefully we'll hold some faith and see if we can get these kids over the line and playing for Maitland somewhere along the line.
"If not we are still committed to developing the game in Maitland and playing our part in continuing to support these kids and transition them into a Maitland Pickers jersey when the time is right."
