Flood's bowlers restricted Whips to 117 from their 16 overs at Learmonth Park on Thursday night.
Whips' attack struck early and had Flood reeling at 5/24 including the key wickets of Josh Trappel and Aaron Mahony.
Matt Trappell with 11 and Elliott Lewis 14 top scored and Sean Gibson was seven not out as Flood managed 9/71 in reply.
Flood have lost their two games to date going down to Sea Dragons first up.
Their next games is against Black Roses at Pasterfiled Sports Complex on Tuesday at 5pm.
Maitland Magic lost their opening game to Seagulls and their game against Sea Dragons on Sunday was washed out. They play Whips at Newcastle No.1 Sportsground on Thursday at 5pm.
