Hunter Valley finished with a record of four wins from six games in the Under-14 Graeme Malcolm Shield in Newcastle after beating Sydney Smashers by 42 runs on Wednesday and Parramatta Presidents by 22 runs on Thursday.

The Hunter Valley under-15s finished with a record of one win, two losses and a draw from their four games at the Maitland Under-15 Carnival.

Led by an outstanding 4-18 by Alex Staffa, Hunter Valley recorded an eight-wicket win after dismissing Mid North Coast for 91 in the 31^st over.

Ryan Golledge chimed in with 2-13 and Joshua Crowther (1-4). Emilia Kavanagh (1-19) and Joseph Druery 1-6 picked up a wicket each.

Aidan Eather top scored with 32 retired not out in Maitland's 2/92 off 23.5 overs.

On Wednesday, Stafa was man of the match in Hunter's loss to Northern Inland top scoring with 43 and taking 2-19.

Northern Inland made 7/193 and dismissed Hunter for 127 for a 66-run win. Hunter skipper Tom Porter made 23 and Golledge took 3-37.

In the under-14s, an unbeaten 52 by Jaxon Brooks off just 38 balls helped propel Hunter Valley to 10/175 and a 42-run win against Sydney Smashers.

Brooks received great support from Harry Scowen 41 and skipper Thomas Thorpe 33. Izaac Coyle took 3-13 and Rees Gibson 3-15 to be the best with the ball for Hunter.

In their final game of the tournament, Hunter made 5/105 from their 20 overs and dismissed Parramatta Presidents for 83.

Brooks, from Raymond Terrace, continued his fine form with the bat retiring on 27 not out. It was his fourth not out for the tournament which netted him 137 runs at 68.5

Lachlan MacIntyre and Ashton Blake also retired unbeaten on 26 and 25 respectively.

Coyle again led the bowling attack finishing with 3-14. The City United youngster finished with 24 wickets from six games, including a best haul of 6-7.

Cooper Gageler, Daniel Crowther and Ashton Blake picked up two wickets each.
