Russell's 101 and an important late-innings partnership from the Dalibozeks including younger brother Liam's maiden half-century at first grade enabled the Warriors to post a highly competitive 7/274 from their 50 overs.
They needed every one of them as Wests, led by a fighting 70 to Mitchell Fisher, fell just eight-runs short of the win dismissed for 266 with four overs to spare at Kurri Central.
The result sees the Plovers drop to equal-second with Easts and the Warriors jump to equal points with Northern Suburbs, one win outside the top five.
Kurri Weston skipper Tyler Power said it was a vital win for the Warriors and kept their season very much alive.
Power said the move of Russell from the middle order to opening proved decisive on a day when the fortunes of both teams fluctuated.
"Young Snowy (Russell) had been batting at six or seven this year and hadn't been setting the world on fire and we were looking for an opener and we thought we'd give him a go," Power said.
"He killed it. He gave one chance when he was about 50-odd and didn't give another until he was out."
Power said Wests had a couple of players out but still boasted their gun batting line-up.
"We got off to a good start, but then sort of fell in a bit of a heap," he said.
"Young Liam Dalibozek batted with his brother Sam and they put on about 60 to get us going and then Liam and Jack Sylvester put on about 40 in the last few overs which ended up winning the game for us."
Power said after having Wests at 3/30 the game turned again with Plovers on top until Alex Seamer returned to the attack and claimed the final two wickets.
"Alex had a horror opening spell, he was 0-45 off his first three overs but he came back to get the last two wickets and win the game," Power said.
Seamer finished with 2-68 from eight overs, but Sam Dalibozek returned the best figures claiming 4-53 from his nine overs.
Jack Sylvester took 2-39 from 10 and Nicholas Neild took 2-52 from nine.
