A man has been charged over an alleged pursuit in the Maitland area which ended with police deploying road spikes near Morpeth Bridge.

It began when Port Stephens Hunter police tried to stop a Holden Commodore at Raymond Terrace just after 3am Wednesday.
Police allegedly chased the vehicle through Raymond Terrace, Hinton and Morpeth before police deployed road spikes to stop the Commodore on Phoenix Park Road near Morpeth Bridge.
The driver is then alleged to have run into bushland, but was soon found by a police dog.
The 27-year-old man was charged with:
- Police pursuit
- Driving while disqualified
- Intentionally throw object at vehicle
- Drive recklessly and
- Possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail in Maitland Local Court on Wednesday and is due to appear in court again on February 12.
