But just a week after battling through back-to-back days of sizzling temperatures, rain could deny the competition the match of the year to date and a clear favourite to take out the minor premiership trophy.
"If we can get on, it's obviously a top of the table clash and both teams are in good form," City skipper Matt Trappel said.
"They are coming off an outright win and there's only one point separating us so it's pretty important in terms of the minor premiership.
"It's a really good competition at the the moment. Norths, Easts and Kurri Weston are also playing really good cricket.
I think we've been playing really good cricket, it's been good to see that most of our batting order is firing. Everyone is scoring some runs.
Anru (Kriel) has been in great form since coming back into the team. I don't think he has been out yet with a 70 and 40 not out.
"He has been a breath of fresh air coming back into the side and really showed our depth.
"He worked hard in second grade and has come in and taken his chance.
"Andrew (Vickery) keeps firing at the top. He keeps getting us to a good start and it was good to see Josh (Trappel) get some runs of the weekend."
Kriel scored 71 not out, Vickery 79 and Josh Trappel 82 in City's total of 6/347 off 76 overs against Thornton last weekend.
Wests may have blown their chances of winning the minor premiership with a tight round nine loss to Kurri Weston but bounced back to claim 10 points with an outright against Tenambit Morpeth.
Plovers leaders Tom Irwin and Mitch Fisher stood tall in the win after Wests were out for 173 on day one.
Fisher snared 7-22 to lead the Plovers attack in dismissing the Bulls for just 109 in their first innings.
Irwin hit a classy 104 and Fisher chimed in with 42 as Wests made 3/194 off just 34 overs in their second dig.
Fisher took another three wickets in the Bulls' second inning for a 10-wicket haul.
All-rounder Shaun Hill, another key addition to the team along with Englishman Elliott Lewis, took 4-52 to be the other chief destroyer as the Bulls were all out for 131.
"We're up for it, we've been playing good cricket and Wests have been playing good cricket and hopefully the weather doesn't get in the way and we get to play," Trappel said.
"They've been fairly consistent with guys scoring good runs and obviously having Mitchy Fisher back with the ball he is going to lead their bowling attack and can score quick runs.
"Tommy (Irwin) is coming off another 100."
City will be without Tim Burton for at least another week with a side strain, but his opening bowling partner Tim Baker was back near his best on the weekend.
"Having Tim back in form and bowling with the pace and control he did on the weekend is a really good sign for us. He was exceptional.
"Getting Todd (Francis) back this week to bowl in tandem with Nick Barker and even Andrew Vickery bowling some spinners at the moment is really good for us.
"We've got two young kids in Sam Jordan and Cam Wynn doing a great job with the ball as well."
