Some have suggested it is too soon in Tszyu's career for him to fight the vastly more-experienced Horn.

The 25-year-old Sydneysider was having none of it on Tuesday as their scheduled 10-round super welterweight fight was confirmed for April 22, with a venue expected to be announced in the next month.

Horn told reporters at a joint media conference that he would not make the mistake of underestimating Tszyu, a lesson hard-learned when beaten by Michael Zerafa last year.

But unbeaten Tszyu was dismissive later.

"I knew I was going to beat him from the first time I saw him," Tszyu told AAP.

"We could have fought last year and I could have beat him, I believe, I'm ready now.

"I don't think he's got much boxing skills, beside his physicality, that's all."

Perth, Brisbane. Townsville and Melbourne are all in contention to stage the keenly-anticipated fight, with Tszyu's home city of Sydney unlikely to get the nod.

Horn's promoter Dean Lonergan said he was hoping the fight would generate as much, if not more, than the $4.4 million profit the Horn-Anthony Mundine fight did, with his boxer getting a 60-40 split.

The 32-year-old Horn, who has moved down from middleweight, is off his feet with a minor Achilles tendon injury, but didn't anticipate any issues leading up to the fight.

"It's going to be a big step up for him (Tszyu) and I guess that will be the test for for him to see if he can handle it," Horn told AAP.

"I feel like he won't be able to handle it. That's the reason why we're taking this fight because we think we have the tools to beat Tim Tszyu.

Tszyu revealed he had been inspired by Horn beating Filipino superstar Manny Pacquaio in 2017, when many sceptics questioned if the Queenslander was ready to take a step up.

He said he would need to be completely focused because Horn's style was awkward, but he hadn't had detailed discussions with his father, boxing legend Kostya Tszyu, about the Queenslander.

"He (Kostya) knows how to break him and I know how to break him as well. I know what to do," Tszyu said.

"I don't believe he's a world class fighter and intend to prove that."
