On Tuesday, councillors will review a report which investigates the demand for female change rooms in Maitland.
Maitland currently has only four female friendly sporting facilities.
These include Maitland No. 1 Sportsground, Norm Chapman Rutherford, McKeachies Run Aberglasslyn and Lochinvar Sporting Complex.
"Increasing venues with gender inclusive amenities will remain a recreation planning priority," the report said.
"This report identifies a list of prioritised sites where provision of change rooms and amenities accommodating both male and female participants will be considered, based on demand and utilisation by both male and female participants."
In December, councillors supported a notice of motion calling for the report to identify "the provision of changerooms and toilets to accommodate both sexes, where demand exists".
"Investigations are underway to scope the upgrades and modifications required to existing facilities to enable them to accommodate both female and male participants," the report said.
"High level costings will also be developed as part of this process.
"Investigations will inform the priority of works to be completed with an aim to fund the most amenity upgrades possible in each year of the capital works plan within the budget allocation.
"Council officers will continue to explore grant opportunities to further increase the number of amenities that meet the needs of both male and female patrons."
Council will meet on Tuesday at 5.30pm at Maitland Town Hall.
