Hunter speedway star Kiona Sunerton consoled herself for not being able to defend her Australian title with a rare four-out-of-four win clean sweep at Valvoline Raceway in Sydney on Saturday night.

Sunerton missed the Australian RSA Streetstockers Championship at Gilgandra the weekend before but eclipsed a field featuring most of the finalists, except new Aussie champ Josh Boyd from Lismore.
Saturday's racing included a rare third heat as well as the feature final and for the first time in her career Sunerton collected four-out-of-four wins.
"It was good to prove on Saturday night what might have been if I had gone," Sunerton said as her purple patch of form at Valvoline and in the Sydney Street Stockers championship continues.
While the standing in the championships will not be revealed until the end of the season, Sunerton has finished on the podium in all six events she has competed at in Sydney.
"I've had four wins, a second and a third," Sunerton said. "The last couple of meetings I've won haven't counted towards the championship. There are three rounds left and the final round is on April 18. It's my priority at the moment."
Sunerton's next major meeting is the Scorpion Cup at Nowra in a fortnight.
The event, featuring many of the country's best drivers in the street stockers category, is a precursor to the NSW title at Nowra on Anzac Day.
"The Scorpion Cup will be a good opportunity to see how the car goes on the track but I'm still not sure if I can make the NSW titles," Sunerton said.
"Other than that I am really concentrating on the championship. I'm hoping that my recent success continues into the final three rounds. It's been a bit of a purple patch.
"It's been one of those year where the dates haven't aligned for me with the major events but I'll just keep chipping away with the championship and hopefully continue to have a heap of success down there.
"The car has been amazing, even on Saturday night when the track probably wasn't the best for my car as far as speed but I was able to stick at it and come home with the win. The car is definitely doing it's part and I'm enjoying the ride."
Sunerton said with Valvoline Raceway expected to close at the end of the year it would be special to win the final title there.
