The Maitland Black and White Luncheon for 2020 will not go ahead on April 30 due to the current COVID-19 health emergency.

The Black and White Committee said in a statement that guest speaker Emeritus Professor Ron McCallum, volunteers and many sponsors shares their disappointment in not proceeding with the event that is a fundraiser for the Hunter division of Vision Australia.
"However with the current guidelines and NSW Government Order in place, this is the responsible decision to make for the health of our community and wider public safety," the statement said.

The luncheon is one of the Maitland Black and White Committee's two major fundraisers each year along with the spring Garden Ramble, and we the committee will be working closely with Vision Australian to ensure they can continue to raise funds to support services for their clients during 2020 and beyond.
"We are very grateful to everyone who has so generously supported this event in the past, and had already offered donations from their time to raffle items and everything in between to support the 2020 luncheon," the statement said.
"We look forward to seeing you all at the Garden Ramble in spring, and promise our luncheon will be back as wonderful as ever in 2021."
