The program aims to recognise volunteers who have, through their initiative and dedication, made a positive contribution to enhancing the lives of others in Maitland.
"During these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to recognise the amazing organisations and individuals that make up the fabric of Maitland and make this city such a great place to live," Maitland mayor Loretta Baker said.
"These are people that never seek thanks or praise for what they do, but it is extremely important that they are recognised and this program can do that.
"I'm looking forward to seeing a wide range of nominations this year and I encourage anyone who knows a group or individual deserving, to get their nomination in."
Nominations can be placed under one of two categories, the City of Maitland Medal and the City of Maitland Service Award.
The City of Maitland Medal is awarded to an organisation or group for outstanding services to Maitland and the City of Maitland Service Award is presented to an individual who provides outstanding service to a specific group within Maitland.
Guidelines and nomination forms can be found at maitland.nsw.gov.au/service-awards.
Nominations close on Friday, April 17.
