But it would seem that slowly but surely Maitland Athletics Centre next to No.1 Sports Ground is really starting to take shape.
The building work began in mid-September 2019 after extensive ground work took place.
This week we received some wonderful drone footage video from Smart Artist which shows exactly how the work is progressing.
The $10.5 million Athletics Centre Project is jointly funded by Maitland Council and the NSW Government under the Restart NSW Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund, and the aim is for a June finish.
"For our young athletes, this is going to be amazing," Mayor Loretta Baker said when construction began.
"Once complete, this athletics facility will be a welcome addition to the high quality sporting options already available in the city.
"Once the whole precinct is complete, we are going to have an amazing facility which is sure to attract much interest from all over NSW and further afield."
