Out the back of his home at Branxton, the 18-year-old placed targets on four steps of an upright ladder.

One by one, working from top to bottom and in quick succession, Lamb struck down the empty ball boxes using his 60 degree, or lob, wedge from about five metres away.

The clip proved popular on social media.

"It wasn't done in one take, but we got there in the end," Lamb said. "It's not as easy as it looks."

Lamb used the drill as a way to keep occupied while stuck at home during the coronavirus lockdown.

"Branxton and The Vintage are open but you can only play holes. The driving range and putting greens are closed," he said.

Lamb has been playing at Branxton each Monday and Waratah each Thursday, but "all the big stuff has been called off".

Among other events, he'd been eyeing off a tilt at the Northern Territory Amateur later this month.

"I'm not sure how many events will go ahead at all this year, we've just got to wait and see what happens," Lamb said.

"I suppose you've just to make the most of it. Practice a lot, reset and be ready for when we go back. It's hard without any competitions."

* NEWCASTLE Hunter District Ladies Golf Association are set to hold an online meeting next month to discuss the remainder of the 2020 season.

The Mixed Foursomes Championships and the Country Cup have already been cancelled during the last two months as well as the weekday pennants season after just one round.

* GOLF NSW published a state representative honour roll online last week with plenty of familiar Hunter names listed including Jye Pickin, Dylan Perry, Blake Windred, Brayden Peterson, Aliza Huff, Callan O'Reilly, Jake Higginbottom, Nick Flanagan, Kurt Barnes, James Nitties, Vikki Tutt, Nathan Green and, of course, Jack Newton.
