This morning an official from the Lott spoke to the woman, who relayed the moment she realised the ticket she had been gifted was worth $10,000.
"It was a Mother's Day gift," she explained. "I completely forgot I had received it, so it wasn't until the other night that I found out it was a winner.
"I was sitting down watching some TV, relaxing and decided to scratch the ticket then.
"I realised straight away that I'd won $10,000. I was very happy. I think I went into a bit of a laughing fit. It felt like I was laughing for hours."
The top prize winning $1 Win Pigs Fly ticket was purchased at Kurri Kurri Newsagency in Lang Street.
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the overjoyed woman said she couldn't wait to cook up a big feast to celebrate with her family.
"I think I will get a few new cooking appliances that I have been seeing on TV. I have wanted to get a few new things for a while," she said. "Then I can cook something really lovely for my family to celebrate."
