Maitland Council will start reopening some of its facilities from Monday in response to the NSW Government's easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Once reopened, a number will resume pre-shutdown operating hours, although social distancing and hygiene measures will remain in place.
"It's fantastic that we are able to commence reopening Council facilities, but I encourage people to remain vigilant in maintaining social distancing and to continue to practice safe hand hygiene," Mayor Loretta Baker said.
"Reopening facilities in accordance with state government guidelines will draw more people to Maitland and increase economic activity throughout our city, which is much needed under the current circumstances."
All sites which will reopen will have hand sanitiser available on entry, will remain cashless and will be subject to a maximum capacity depending on he size of the facility and in according with social distancing guidelines.
From Monday Council's Customer Service Centre and Maitland Visitor Information Centre will reopen and return to pre-shutdown operating hours.
Maitland City Library Branches will be open at reduced hours, from 9am until 5pm on weekdays and from 9am until 1pm on Saturdays for borrowing, returns, click and collect, printing, copying and JP services. Local Studies and the Seed Library will be available, but all public programs, events and public access computers remain suspended.
Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) will reopen on Thursday, June 4 and return to pre-shutdown operating hours. MRAG tours, programs and events remain suspended. Seraphine Café remains closed during refurbishment.
Maitland Gaol will reopen on Thursday, June 4 for self guided audio tours only, with visitors to bring their own device. Guided tours of Maitland Gaol remain suspended.
At this stage, Morpeth Museum, Maitland Senior Citizens Centre, Community Halls and the indoor pool at Maitland Aquatic Centre remain closed. Outdoor pools at Maitland and East Maitland are closed for the season.
