It wasn't a pre-Covid-19 fantasy, but Saturday morning in the Levee Precinct at Maitland.
And I had the receipts for a new jacket and pair of boots to prove it and two entries for a chance to win a $5000 spending spree.
Maitland shoppers grabbed bargains and celebrated the return of some spontaneous fun and games - at an appropriate social-distance of course - at the Levee One Day Sale on Saturday.
Wayne and Sue Wardle, from Gillieston Heights, like many in the Levee were relishing a day out and the chance to support local businesses.
"It was good to get into town and support the businesses, but it's turned into a really fun day," they said.
Belly-dancing, buskers and other performances turned the sale into an event as shopping bags were put down for a bite to eat and the rare treat of live entertainment before some more retail therapy.
"People are getting out and about again, so it's fantastic that businesses at The Levee are offering some great deals to shoppers right now," The Levee Public Programs Officer David Graham said.
"You can grab a bargain and then stay for a coffee or lunch at one of the cafés or restaurants that also have great offers."
Shops opened their doors from 9am with the sale wrapping up at 3pm.
The winner of the $5000 shopping spree will be drawn and notified on Monday, June 29.
