It was the ideal final tune up for the classy Maitland outfit who kick off their premiership defence against grand final opponent Edgeworth at Jack McLaughlan Oval on Sunday, July 12.
Crowley had a part in all three Maitland goals providing the assist for Jimmy Thompson's first-half equaliser after Adamstown opened the scoring in the 15 minute when they took advantage of a poor defensive turn over.
Just two minutes into the second half Crowley earned a penalty, successfully taken by Wood and then played Wood through for his second.
Thompson also providing plenty of headaches for the Adamstown defence with plenty of run and strong contests and the other member of the forward quartet Matt Comerford had some excellent touches in his return two years on from a knee injury.
Apart from the defensive lapse which led to the opening goal by Rosebud, the Maitland defence looked solid with Jets Youth recruit Joey O'Connor fitting in seamlessly in the second half when starting defender Tom Davies was rested after feeling tightness in his hamstring.
The Magpies midfield was again full of energy and creativity and will be further strengthened by the return of former Newcastle Jet Nick Cowburn.
"We dominated possession from the last 15 minutes of the first half," Magpies coach Mick Bolch said.
"They are very well organised.and very dangerous on the counter attack.
"I think in the first half we needed to be a bit more patient with the ball, I thought we tried to push it a little too much.
"A poor turn over led to their first goal, but we created a lot of chances and could have had more goals on the board..
"Woodsy two goals, Jimmy Thompson one, Crowley three assists, you've got to be happy with that.
"Cummo's going to improve each week once his match fitness picks up.
"Cowburn comes in next week and gives you that different dimension in the 10. I'm happy where we are at.
"I'm really happy with the fitness levels.
Other sports news:
"In the last 15 minutes of the first half we ran over them and in the beginning of the second they lost a bit of wind and we took advantage of that.
"It's a big test next week but it will show us where we are at."
Bolch said Crowley continued to impress everyone with his effort, energy and selfless play.
"Today he set up all three, earning the penalty, he set Jimmy up and put the ball through for Woodsy," he said.
"He's a team player, he is not selfish, he doesn't care whose scoring the goals but he is always involved."
