Next month Mai-Wel invites teams or individuals, called 'Movers', to challenge themselves by setting a distance they will reach by the end of the month.
It doesn't matter whether you're a finely honed athlete or a couch potato - and it doesn't matter whether you walk, run or wheel - it's a fully inclusive event. Just challenge yourself by setting your own distance.
Mai-Wel CEO Lynne Graham admits she is excited by the concept.
"It was disappointing that we could not hold gala ball this year, but Move for Mai-Wel represents an exciting new opportunity for our supporters and online community," she said.
"It facilitates a way to stay connected that is both safe and within social distancing, while also encouraging physical activity and positive community connection in a time we need it most."
All funds raised will be allocated to the upgrade and development infrastructure and recreational spaces within Mai-Wel's homes and facilities. Mai-Wel is dedicated to providing opportunity and choice for people living with a disability.
There are also a number of prizes up for grabs. In each category prizes will be awarded for the most funds raised as well as a prize for the furthest distance covered.
To take part, registrations must be completed before August 1. To register as a team with family, friends or colleagues, or as a Solo Mover, head to www.maiwel.com.au/moveformaiwel.
