Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal, police arrested a man at a house in Beresfield on Saturday morning.
He was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with sexual touching another person without consent and incite another to sexually touch them without consent.
The man is alleged to have sexually touched a 16-year-old boy in the toilets of a shopping centre at Thornton on Wednesday morning.
The boy reported the matter to police and officers from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District commenced an investigation.
The man was released on strict conditional bail and will appear at Maitland Local Court on Wednesday, August 12.
