The inextricable defensive lapse was almost a carbon copy of their 2-1 loss to Newcastle Olympic in the opening game of the season at home.
Azzurri almost conjured up their own disastrous end to the game when they were reduced to nine men with players red-carded in the 76th and 81st minute.
Bears skipper Nathan Morris opened the scoring in the 24th minute when he converted from the penalty spot after the referee ruled a handball by a Azzurri defender.
The game turned on its head from the 64th minute when Regan Lundy scored against his old side on the break. Lundy was played through with a ball from just inside Azzurri's half and managed to chip Bears keeper Carter from the left corner of the penalty area.
Two minutes later and again on the counter, Riley Smith sliced his way through two Bears defender on the right edge of the penalty area and expertly placed the ball outside Carter's reach.
It was a disappointing end to the week in which the Bears secured a 1-0 derby win over Maitland on Wednesday night and had to settle for a draw against Adamstown despite dominating play before and after Jordan Jackson was red-carded in the 51st minute.
A win on Sunday would have lifted the Bears to clear third place on 10 points with three wins and a draw. They are fourth equal on seven points with Lambton Jaffas and Charlestown.
