However, it's a new-look George with six new players in this year's side which shares top spot with Wests team Stangas after the weekend's double header fixtures.
The George beat WRTNC Razzamatazz 67-21 on Saturday and Flames 56-22 on Sunday. Stangas defeated Bradford 53-24 on Saturday and ended NVY Comets' unbeaten run with 49-41 victory on Sunday.
The two teams are now three points clear of a chasing bunch headed by back-to-back premiers Hills Solicitors, followed by last year's beaten grand finalists Club Maitland City and Comets.
The George faces Comets and Stangas take on fellow Wests team Club Maitland City in the matches of the round on Saturday.
Hills, who were beaten by Comets in round four for their first loss in more than a year, play Customs House in what could be a decisive round in deciding finals spots.
George coach/manager Anthony Rodwell said Amonie Lindsell and Ashley Edwards were the last players from the team which made four straight grand finals against Hills Solicitors from 2015-18 and won the 2015 and 2017 titles.
Rodwell said they had recruited well and blended a team with experience and youth.
"The team has significantly changed from previous years with six new players in our squad of 10," Rodwell said of the team who have been dubbed the Kates as half the team are named Kate. "The team has a really nice balance of youth and experience."
Kate Blanch, 19, and Tayla Winter, 16, are the other members from last year's team.
Goal attack Kate Rodwell, 19 and experienced goal defender Katie Mason both came across from Hinton Hotel this season.
Another experienced defender Kate Cheetham played A2 last year for "Carpet Court".
Centre Deenah Harvey, 20, is back from a two year break from the game and Abbey Morgan, 19, is an up and coming defender.
Experienced wing defence Kate Dooley returns to A-grade after playing socially in the B1 for Thornton last year.
