The uncharacteristic hammering capped off a disappointing two days for the club which included the mutual decision to part ways with former Newcasle Jet Nick Cowburn.
Cowburn, 25, came to the Magpies midway through last year after failing to secure a new deal with the Jets, where he played 69 A-League matches.
Maitland coach Michael Bolch said the club and Cowburn agreed to split on Tuesday.
Bolch said the Cowburn's departure did not impact on Maitland's performance on Wednesday night.
"It was really a case of Olympic making the best of their opportunities and us struggling to find the back of the net," he said.
"They had probably five shots on goal for the game and converted four of those. We had five or six in the first half and more in the second but just could not find the back of the net.
"They defended very well on the small ground, getting plenty on the ball and troubling us on the counter."
Olympic jumped to third on 11 points with the win and Maitland dropped to fifth, equal on 10 points with Lambton (fourth) and Weston (sixth).
Bolch said the team were very disappointed with their performance and keen to rectify their scoring problems in Sunday's game against Adamstown.
"Our defence had been miserly until last night and they were getting plenty of opportunities in attack.
"I don't think we are terribly far away from turning things around.
"If we can get wins in our next two games we can get ourselves up to third before the competition splits into two for the final four rounds.
"But we really need to get ourselves up into that top five before the split if we are going to have any chance of making the finals."
The Magpies are away to Adamstown on Sunday and then host Charlestown Azzurri the following Sunday to see out the initial nine rounds.
Weston host second-placed Broadmeadow Magic on Sunday before an away game the Sunday after against Valentine.
