The Wests team, made up of Matiland Mustangs players, prevailed 62-47 in a high-scoring and highly entertaining game.
The win confirms Stangas as premiership favourites with wins against all their top four rivals except the second placed George who they meet on September 19 the week before the semi-finals and grand final weekend on September 26-27.
The George and NVY Comets remain three points behind Stangas in second and third after both recorded comfortable wins on Saturday.
Comets had a 62-26 win against Bradford and The George defeated Customs House Hotel 41-21.
Last year's beaten grand finalist Club Maitland City are now a game clear in fourth spot on 26 points with a 43-18 win against Flames.
Hills and Easts Rebels are fifth and sixth respectively equal on 23 points.
Rebels secured their fifth win of the season overcoming Razzamatazz 53-26.
In the final game Quarry Bar & Grill had a 48-36 win over Alcobolics.
Stangas have all but guaranteed a spot in the finals, but with three rounds remaining the composition of the top four four is still very much up for grabs with six teams still in the running.
The matches of the round next Saturday are between The George and Club Maitand City and NVY Comets and Easts Rebels
