Swan will join twin brother Andrew in the engine room for the Magpies as they attempt to curb a red-hot Olympic who jumped Maitland into third place on the ladder with a 6-2 thumping of Lake Macquarie City on Sunday.
Olympic defeated Maitland 4-0 in a mid-week catch-up game on August 26, but have failed to string two wins together all season.
Maitland's form has also been patchy and defensive lapses late in last week's game saw them surrender the lead to go down 2-1 to Charlestown Azzurri and drop to sixth on the table equal on 13 points with Lambton Jaffas (fifth) and Azzurri (seventh).
"It's a big round for a lot of clubs. Last week was a massive three points to throw away at the death," Magpies coach Mick Bolch said.
"Three points there and we're on 16 and it's a completely different ball game, but we're in a fight for one of three spots.
"You'd say Edgeworth and Magic are safe and then the next six clubs are all fighting for three spots.
"We need at least two wins and draw from their final four games to take us to 20 points and probably fifth spot in the finals. but even then we are reliant on results in other games.
"Three wins would assure us a spot in the semis.
"A win on Sunday against Olympic will put us on track to get probably nine points from the lost last four games which would guarantee us a spot."
Bolch said Matt Swan's return was a huge boost as the side was a different team when the brothers played together.
"It's a huge difference for us to have the two Swans back in the middle for us. It's the amount of attacks they break up and the amount of ball they win for you. It's a different level," he said.
After Olympic, the Magpies have away games against Adamstown and Valentine, punctuated by a home game against competition leaders Edgeworth at Cooks Square Park on Sunday, September 29.
Bears visit Magic
The Weston Bears begin their final four matches of the season with a tough road trip to take on second-placed Broadmeadow Magic at Magic Park on Saturday, from 2.30pm.
The Bears held onto fourth spot with a 2-all draw against Valentine after they had trailed by two goals with 10 minutes to go. Cooper Buswell scored in the 80th minute and Aaron Niyonkuru got the equaliser two minutes later in a game Weston had been expected to win.
After Magic, the Bears host form side Lambton Jaffas who finally clicked as a unit to pull off 3-1 win against the previously unbeaten Edgeworth.
They are then away to Charlestown Azzurri before finishing against bottom side Lake Macquarie City.
It's a tough draw with Magic favourites this weekend and Jaffas and Azzurri 50-50 propositions.
