Petering on the edge of the top four, a loss would have ended Hills' hopes of a 10th consecutive finals campaign and a chance to defend their back-to-back titles.
They now only need to beat Bradford in the final round to secure their spot in the finals.
While things are more certain for Hills, The George and WRTNC Club Maitland City's finals fates are still very much up in the air.
Looming large is the final round encounter between The George and undefeated minor premiers WRTNC Stangas.
Win and The George will finish second or third.
Lose by too many and if Club Maitland City wins by enough then The George will miss out after sitting second for most of the season.
Stangas confirmed themselves as minor premiers with a 50-31 win against Flames and NVY Comets need to beat WRTNC Quarry Bar & Grill in the final round to finish second after they defeated WRTNC Razzamatazz 64-21.
Club Maitland City beat BDNC Alcobolics 57-24 to make inroads on cutting their percentage difference with The George.
In other games Customs House Hotel 41 defeated Bradford 36 and EMNC Rebels 51 defeated Quarry Bar and Grill 34.
