If they slip up their 2019 grand final opponent Club Maitland City are ready to pounce and grab fourth place on the ladder with victory over Rebels.
Given results this season, Hills should proceed into the final weekend of the 2020 competition which will be a remarkable effort given they have fielded the bare minimum seven players most games.
"We've struggled with numbers because of injuries and pregnancies," Hills forward Mel Morris.
Morris and her teammates had accepted the prospect of not playing finals for the first time in 10 years but in a return to their title-winning form rose to the challenge and defeated arch rivals The George to get 62-40 to emphatically get their fate back in their own hands.
"I think for everyone involved this season the most important part was just to get out and play and be able to spend time with your mates during a tough year," Morris said.
There has been a shake-up at the top of the A-grade table with Wests Stangas and NVY Comets expected to finish top two.
Irrespective of the result from their game on Saturday against The George, Stangas will be minor premiers. Comets need only to win against WRTNC Quarry Bar & Grill to ensure they finish second and The George third.
In other results last week: Comets 64 def Razzamatazz 21, Stangas 50 def Flames 31, Club Maitland City 57 def Alcobolics 24; Customs House Hotel 41 def Bradford 36; and Rebels 51 def Quarry Bar and Grill 34.
Semi-finals and the grand final will be held on the weekend of September 26-27.
