The inaugural Hunter Valley Art Fair will be held in Pokolbin Community Hall over the three-day break and will feature some of the region's most aspiring artists.

Created by two emerging local artists from Branxton, the event is set to become an annual feature to give Hunter artists and makers the chance to not only show but also sell their work direct to the public commission free. The event will offer indoor spaces, alongside the more traditional outdoor market stalls.

After recognising the popularity of art fairs abroad and in Australia's larger cities, Kim Lundy and Suellyn Connolly teamed up to organise the event.

They are also encouraging artists and makers to carry out live demonstrations to give people a look behind the scenes.

"I feel like there's never been a better time for this type of event, providing access for the public directly to fine arts, with the ability to meet talented artists and makers and take home a truly special piece," she said.

The free entry event will meet current COVID health standards and extended operating hours are in place to ensure patrons have time to come back later.

Hunter Valley Art Affair will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4 from 10 am to 6pm and Monday, October 5 between 10am and 3pm,
