The Thornton Beresfield Bears are one win from the A-grade grand final and the Aberglasslyn Ants made it three from three wins in the opening round of the Newcastle and Hunter Community Rugby League finals.
The Bears put a long road trip behind them to smash Glendale Gorillas 50-12 at Mallabula Sporting Complex on Saturday.
Their major rival minor premiers Dora Creek also had a big win defeating Western Suburbs 52-8.
Northern Lakes defeated Fingal Bay 22-20 in the other final.
The Bears will face Northern Lakes in one preliminary final and Dora Creek and Fingal Bay are in the other with the winners to progress to the grand final on Saturday, October 24.
The Aberglasslyn Ants booked their spot in the women's tackle grand final with a 14-10 win against Berkley Vale.
It was the minor premier Ants second win this season over the Panthers who have been the powerhouse of the competition.
The Ants will meet the winner of the preliminary final between Berkley Vale and Waratah-Mayfield Cheetahs who advanced after defeating Raymond Terrace 30-12 in the minor semi-final.
Aberglassyn's Ladies League Tag team in on track for a fourth minor-major premiership double after kicking off their 2020 finals campaign with a 58-0 victory over Greta Branxton Colts.
The Ants will now meet Stroud Raiders in a preliminary final, with Fingal Bay and University in the other. The winner from both games progresses to the grand final.
Aberglasslyn's men smashed Wallsend 48-16 to earn a spot in next week's preliminary final against the Dudley Magpies who will use their second chance after being defeated 46-4 by Waratah-Mayfield Cheetahs in the major semi-final.

Dungog Warriors will use their double chance in B-grade Ladies League Tag after being defeated 14-10 by Shortland. The Warriors meet Mallabula Panthers in the preliminary for the remaining spot in the grand final.
The Dungog men's semi-final campaign is over after almost pulling off a memorable win against second placed Swansea in C-grade. The Warriors were defeated 14-12 and were eliminated along with Raymond Terrace in week one.
