* Melbourne recorded four new coronavirus cases, bringing the city's 14-day rolling average down to 7.2.

* An aged care resident in his 90s is Victoria's latest virus fatality, bringing the state's death toll to 817 and the national figure to 905.

* As of Monday morning, Melburnians are able to get a haircut, see an allied health professional, renovate their properties and wash their cars.

* Regional Victorians are allowed up to two people plus dependents in homes once a day, while hospitality venues can increase their capacity to 70 people outside and 40 people inside. This does not include Shepparton, the centre of a COVID-19 outbreak.

* The Morrison government has blasted Victoria for putting Australians' jobs at risk by not moving more swiftly to lift restrictions put in place to deal with the coronavirus.

* But Premier Daniel Andrews has accused Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg of putting politics ahead of health.

* Premier Andrews has conceded New Zealanders are free to enter Victoria despite the state not signing up to be a part of the trans-Tasman bubble.

* New Zealanders arriving in Victoria won't be required to quarantine due to the low number of coronavirus cases in their home country, but will have to comply with the state's coronavirus restrictions.

* NSW has recorded no new locally-acquired cases of COVID-19 and just four new cases detected in returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

* The NSW government has increased the limit on outdoor gatherings and group bookings at hospitality venues from 20 to 30.

* From December in NSW guests at weddings will be lifted to 300 people, provided they are seated, and corporate events can have up to 300 people in any setting.

* Tasmania is hopeful it will receive NSW residents from November 2 but will continue to monitor that state's coronavirus status for the rest of the week.

* Tasmania is on track to reopen to low-risk states of South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory from October 26.

* Queensland has recorded no new COVID-19 cases but four virus cases remain active in the state.

* Health officials continue to urge Queenslanders with symptoms to get tested after more virus traces were found in sewage.

* Coronavirus fragments were last week found in wastewater samples from some Brisbane suburbs and parts of the Sunshine Coast.
