Leaving the Storm after Sunday's NRL grand final against Penrith, Addo-Carr is hoping to sign off from Melbourne with another premiership tattoo - on his torso alongside his ink from 2017.

The 25-year-old has already planned to get a portrait of his late grandfather Wally Carr, who he credits for instilling his love of rugby league.

Carr, one of Australia's best boxers in the 1970s, used to give his young grandson pocket money for each try he scored.

Passing away from stomach cancer last year, the Storm embroidered his name on their Indigenous round jerseys this season in his honour.

"I think about him every day, thinking about him last night, wishing he could spend another moment like this with me," Addo-Carr said.

"He came to the 2017 final and he freaked out how loud it was and had to leave the game early, it was too much for him.

"I didn't get to share that special moment with him and I miss him very much."

Addo-Carr said his baby son, called Fox, won't be at the grand final as he fears it will also be too loud for the the four-month old.

Family is the reason that the NSW Origin winger has decided to leave Melbourne, who he joined at the end of 2016, with Addo-Carr wanting to raise his two children surrounded by their extended family.

Penrith centre Brent Naden is part of that, with Addo-Carr saying the pair are related through their Wellington family roots.

Naden was left on the Panthers bench for the preliminary final but has been named in their starting 13 for Sunday.

One player Addo-Carr is certain to oppose is veteran Penrith winger Josh Mansour.

After a stint in reserve grade last season, the 30-year-old Mansour has rediscovered his best footy, with 11 tries, 23 line breaks, 74 busts and averaging 170 metres per game.

"He's been a really tough player this year but he's always been a standout in the Panthers side... he's a really quality player," Addo-Carr said of Mansour.

The Storm are continuing their low-key build-up on the Sunshine Coast.

Assistant coach Jason Ryles said on Wednesday that all players had recovered well from the Storm's convincing preliminary final win over Canberra.

Like Addo-Carr, the grand final is the last match with Melbourne for Ryles, who will join England's rugby union program next month.

With 11 players in the Storm squad with grand final experience, Ryles said it was business as usual this week.

Skipper Cameron Smith is playing in his eighth while Dale Finucane is lining up for this sixth title decider.

"There's obviously little lessons that you do pick up from playing in grand finals - you learn each time you go there," Ryles said.

"This year is so different as it's been really quiet so far, which I think is good for our younger guys and we won't get the hype of it all until we get down to Sydney on Saturday afternoon."
