Good Odds Harada won the Future Stars for Hurst in 2018 and exactly a year later the brindle dog etched himself into greyhound folklore as the second winner of the world's richest race, the Million Dollar Chase.
Although he's not racing for a million dollars this Monday night, Hurst is back for another shot at Future Stars glory and Good Odds Tyson looks well placed to take home the $10,000 first prize.
The red brindle dogs posted an equal-best 22.39 seconds for the 400 metres from box three in his heat and then drew box two for the final.
Hurst's other charge Sound Of Silence made good use of box one to win his heat in 22.58s and has drawn box seven in the final.
East Gresford trainer Charmaine Field and her husband Brad were all smiles after they qualified two runners for the final, Cherokee Outlaw and Bradman Best.
Cherokee Outlaw showed heaps of class to overcome box five and win his heat in an equal-best 22.39s and looks well placed in box eight for the final where he can stay out of trouble and swoop around the field on the first bend.
Bradman Best also had to overcome a wide draw in the seven box to win his heat in 22.46s and he will need to find his best form again after drawing box five in the final.
Both dogs have been well schooled at Maitland in recent months and with any luck in running they will be hard to beat in the final.
Londonderry trainer Christine Proctor and her husband Allan won the Future Stars with Master Gree in 2014 and have the chance to lift the trophy once again after Teddy The Bear qualified with a 22.63s heat win and then landed the highly-prized box one for the final.
The Proctors are regular visitors to Maitland where they have enjoyed much success over the years and punters can be assured they will have Teddy The Bear primed to take advantage of the red rug.
Zipping Kyrgios will jump from box six in the final for champion Cranebrook trainer John Finn after posting 22.49s to win his heat from box six.
The two fastest runners-up from the six heats also qualified for the final with Power Boom drawing box three for Sawyers Gully trainer Darryl Thomas, whose dog Xerri picked up $100,00 in prize money when he finished second in the Million Dollar Chase final last week, and Psycho Sonic drawing box four for Central Coast trainer Raelee Shearer.
The reserves are Justifiable for Chris O'Brien and Hemi Demi Semi for Sarah Kedwell.
The first race on Monday night kicks of about 6.30pm and the gates will be open from 5.30pm. Entry is via the Evans Street gates behind the main grandstand.
