The project is part of Wild Turkey With Thanks platform which is designed to protect and preserve the wilderness for future generations,
Undeterred by the international travel ban, the Texas-born movie star personally video called a handful of Australians to have a yarn.
The Rudds, owners of the Batlow Hotel in the South West Slopes region of NSW, said they were thrilled to be selected, but it came as a shock as they did not even know they were in the running.
Linda said it was surreal to see McConaughey's face on their screen as they chatted with him.
"We were both a bit starstruck at the thought this was going to happen, but we saw it as a wonderful opportunity to put our fantastic region on the map," she said.
"After a while though, it just felt like talking to a next door neighbour."
Linda said tourism is a crucial factor in the town rebuilding after the horrific bushfires and the international pandemic.
He said he believes in community above all else and wants to urge Australians to not only explore the outdoors but visit, volunteer, say hello or stay a night or two in fire-affected regions.
"Australians are a rare breed," Mr McConaughey said.
"When adversity hits them, they come back twice as strong. I know from personal experience, they get their grit from the land.
"These local legends drew strength from nature in order to protect it from one of the worst bushfire seasons on record, and I want everyone to know their stories.
"It's thanks to them that the Aussie wilderness and their communities remain for us all to connect with. From their mission to mine, I want to give thanks and support these Legends in my work with Wild Turkey."
