As part of Youth Week, held between Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 24 next year, council, in collaboration with the Department of Family and Community Services, provides funding to groups which involve young people in planning, developing and managing activities.
Non-profit, incorporated organisations or groups that want to work with young people to deliver a 2021 Youth Week event can apply for up to $3000 in funding.
To be successful, applications will need to provide information on the proposed Youth Week event and how young people will be involved throughout the planning and coordinating.
Applicants are also encouraged to collaborate with other groups where possible.
Council's Manager Community and Recreation Laurie D'Angelo-Edmonds said Youth Week provides an opportunity for young people of Maitland to express their ideas, act on issues important to them and enjoy activities that they've helped create.
Some of the initiatives funded through Maitland's Youth Week grants include the Sun Street Festival and GABFEST.
Applications will be assessed by Council's Youth Week Committee, made up of young people aged 12 to 25, against the National Youth Week and Maitland City Council funding guidelines.
Applications close 21 January 2021. For more information and to complete an application form, visit www.maitland.nsw.gov.au/youth-week
