The track at Maitland Regional Athletics Centre is now available for general public use. Members of the public will be able to use the running track with no pre-booking required at certain times from Monday to Friday. The multi-million dollar redevelopment works included the construction of a 400m synthetic track and associated field facilities, an amenities building, spectator seating and car parking, which will service both the new facility and No. 1 Sportsground. The athletics centre is a $10.5 million project joint funded by Council and Restart NSW Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund. Stage three of the redevelopment includes a walking track, new playground, outdoor exercise facilities and additional amenities. Construction is expected to be completed during 2021.
