The popular Mattress Muster, hosted by Maitland Council, will be held on February 20.
Each household in the Maitland local government area can drop off up to four mattresses free of charge.
Cot mattresses, innerspring mattresses, foam and latex mattresses and ensemble bases will be accepted, however a mattress with an ensemble base will count as two items.
By participating in this Mattress Muster, people will ensure that components of their old mattresses are recycled instead of being disposed of to landfill.
A statement on Maitland Council's website said the muster wa an opportunity for residents to do their bit for the environment by simply recycling something they might not use anymore, all free of charge.
To participate in this recycling initiative, proof of residence in the Maitland local government area will be required at the time of drop off.
