Morpeth CWA hosted the event on St Patrick's Day, March 17, with entries from 10 branches throughout the Hunter.
Secretary of Morpeth CWA Diane Burton said the annual event is a big day in the CWA social calendar and attracted cake entries from branches from Belmont to Merriwa.
Group Cookery Officer Dianne Innes was pleased with the number of entries - 115 - as well as the high standard.
Entries included fruit cakes, puddings, sultana cakes, wagon wheel slice, sponges, loafs, pickles and jams.
The entries had to follow strict CWA guidelines but entry was open to all cooks - not just CWA members.
The judges, Erin Campbell and Barbara Reichert from Gloucester, had the difficult task of selecting the winning entries from each category which will now go onto the State Annual Conference to be held in Bega in May.
"Members enjoyed a lovely lunch, put on by the host branch, and attended workshops learning hints, tips and the tricks of the trade from the experts," said Mrs Burton.
"It was a lovely, friendly day enjoyed by all," she said.
"Our best wishes and the best of luck are sent to those ladies who have now progressed to the state level of competition. "
