The rural community is the latest to benefit from Greater Bank's 75 Year anniversary celebrations.

The bank announced in August that it was planting 75,000 trees in the areas it calls home across regional NSW to mark its anniversary.

Representatives from the local community, along with Greater Bank employees took part in a planting on Tuesday, March 30 that will be part of a larger project of restoring wildlife corridors on farms in the Luskintyre shire.

The project will help restoration of habitat pockets to enhance a wider wildlife corridor and increase native biodiversity, while in the longer-term address erosion control and water retention on farms.

Local Landcare Coordinator for the Lower Hunter, Stacy Mail, said they have been working with local landholders to provide these important corridors that will provide long term environmental benefits for the area.

"Part of the Landcare model is to work with private landholders in these rural areas to provide these green corridors on forming land where much of the vegetation has been cleared," Ms Mail said.

"By planting out these areas we are helping to provide greater diversity in not only the use of the land but also around the species of plants on the site.

"Once established the plantings will create important wildlife corridors in the area, as well as longer-term environmental benefits such as wind and heat protection."

Greater Bank Regional Manager, Jennifer Smith, said the tree planting projects are symbolic of the role Greater Bank has played in growing together with its communities over the past 75 years.

"As we reach our 75th year of operation, we're proudly celebrating the role we have played in helping the communities we call home grow greater," Mrs Smith said.

"It's important for us, that in celebrating the milestone, we contribute to a cause that is important to our customers. The need to protect and nurture the environment was a consistent message delivered by our customers, which is why we've committed to planting 75,000 trees throughout regional NSW.
