Fashion and basketball? Yes, it's a thing thanks to local fashion business owner, Sharon Cole of After Dusk Dress Hire.
Partnering with Maitland Basketball Association Development manager Trevor Gallacher and Patrick Lane from Ken Lane Menswear, Mrs Cole thought of the concept in early March to have a fashion show to fundraise for the under 23 Mustangs.
"We're aiming for a bit of fun, community spirit and hoping for a good night before the launch of the Mustangs first home game on Saturday," Mrs Cole said.
"My son plays for the Mustangs which gave me the inspiration to make an all-inclusive event and have both After Dusk models and the basketball players to model some styles."
The fashion show will incorporate several categories including formal, racewear, partywear and wedding attire and there be dance routines thanks to 5678 Academy of Dance.
The boys will parade the catwalk in formal attire provided by Ken Lane Menswear while the girls will be dressed in designer gowns, including IXIAH the label, Natalie Rolt, Bronx and Banco and Bariano - which will also be available for hire or purchase at After Dusk.
"It's a first for me but I am so excited and can't wait to bring something a little bit different to Maitland, which combines the community's love of sport and fashion. It's definitely an all-inclusive event", Mrs Cole added.
The fashion show, which includes canapes throughout the night, will be held at Maitland Federation Centre on Friday, April 9. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
