She was one of six Aberglasslyn Ants players who starred for Newcastle Hunter in their 38-0 smashing of Riverina in the final of the women's rugby league Country Championships.
But when it came time to pick the Combined Country side to play City, not one Newcastle player made it - although two from Riverina did.
"The girls don't want to make a fuss, but it's fair to say they weren't impressed," Ashlee, 23, said.
"The combined side was selected before the final, so we felt we had a point to prove when we ran out."
The Ants girls represent Aberglasslyn in Ladies League Tag A-Grade competition, but as Aberglasslyn don't have a ladies tackle side this season, they play their tackle football elsewhere.
"Five of us play for West Newcastle and one for Central," Ashlee, a classy halfback, explained.
"We all enjoy playing for Aberglasslyn in the Ladies League Tag - there's a real welcoming, community feel about the club - but we were roaming around looking for a club to play tackle with, when Wests approached us.
"We sort of came to an unofficial arrangement with the Wests players - we'd play tackle for them if their Tag players came to Aberglasslyn, so we picked up two tag players in return."
It means some hectic weeks for the players - Monday and Wednesday are training nights with the LLT, while Tuesday and Thursday are training nights with Wests. Ashlee says she clearly prefers tackle league to tag, but enjoys the camaraderie of Aberglasslyn.
Mind you, it comes at a price. She was forced to spend 15 months on the sideline with serious knee injuries - and ironically, it wasn't tackle, but tag, that caused the problem.
"I did my anterior cruciate ligament which is bad enough, and then I did my meniscus in the other knee, so for a while there I was pretty messed up with both knees out of action."
But now she's back to her best in both codes and enjoying the fact that this season the Ants - who came into this season on the back of four successive premierships - have been promoted to a new A-Grade competition.
And despite the step up, like every other season, they are clearly one of the teams to beat ... again.
"We're equal leaders with three wins and a draw from our first four," Ashlee said.
"From what we've seen we're pretty confident we can handle the step up."
The new competition means that for the first time this year the Ants are pitted against big sister - the Maitland Pickers lineup.
A grudge match in the making?
"I know we'll be up for it, so I hope they are too."
