The Forestry Corporation of NSW is advising against heading to Barrington Tops this season as the effect of storms earlier this year are still being felt on rural access roads.
Barrington Tops Forest Road, which is the main access point from the coast, remains closed after suffering major structural damage in the March floods. The Forestry Corporation has warned of a "high risk the roads might collapse".
Road closures are listed on the Forestry Corporation website as well as Live Traffic NSW and on signs in the forest.
Temperatures at the Tops are expected to dip to zero overnight Tuesday bringing a dusting on Wednesday that could stick around into Friday, depending on conditions.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It is set to be a chilly week across the Hunter as the cold front sweeps across the state, bringing gusty winds and cooler temperatures - conditions set to change on Wednesday.
Maitland and surrounds could see the mercury dip to 5 degrees Celsius on Thursday and it could drop to zero in parts of the Upper Hunter.
Rain is also forecast to hit late Tuesday and showers set to continue through to the weekend.
The forecast for the long weekend is partly cloudy Saturday, Sunday and Monday with tops of 18, 19 and 20 respectively.
