The shock result could have opened the way for East Maitland's Brazen Fitness to push for finals action, but unfortunately for them they fell just short of their own upset win against Club Maitland City.

After trailing at the final break, CMC managed to claw their way to a 26-25 win against Easts.

An Easts win would have left them just three points outside the top four with three rounds remaining.

It was a close thing for NVY Comets as well with a 44-39 win against Customs House Hotel.

In the final game, top side The George Tavern collected full points for a forfeit win against bottom team Flames.

NVY Comets' Kiona Sunerton said the conditions were incredibly difficult for netball which brought games back to a far more even contest.

Sunerton said Comets had a late withdrawal preventing them from fielding a full seven players for the first time this year.

"One of our players woke will sniffles and with Covid restrictions was immediately ruled out. It turns out to be sinus but no one is taking risks," she said.

"It would have been the first time we had seven players, but hopefully we can get a full complement together for next week when we play The George."

Sunerton said conditions came into play in all three games.

"It was an incredibly tight contest for us and Hills were also down on numbers and were beaten," she said.

"Club Maitland City were down by one or two goals at the final break but managed to do enough in the final quarter to get the win against Easts."
