Ash and Shannon left their previous jobs, Ash with Hunter New England Health and Shannon in the mines, to open Millers Produce - one of eight new businesses to set up shop in the former Rutherford IGA supermarket site.
The couple has opened a shop front for the long time family business which was originally started by Shannon's parents Stephen and Sandra Miller about 30 years ago.
The business was supplying cafes and restaurants with fruit, vegetables and eggs and over the years has grown.
Response from the community has been fantastic - a lot happy with a family-run business as an alternative to the big supermarkets

"Shannon could see their work load was cut out for the and they were working ridiculous hours," Ash said.
"We both left our jobs to help out and now the business has tripled in size and doing really well particularly with online orders etc," she said.
"Response from the community has been fantastic - a lot happy with a family-run business as an alternative to the big supermarkets."
The former IGA site has been divvied up into 12 businesses. Four remain vacant with Millers Produce, Hip Pocket Workwear, Nutrition Warehouse, M and M Bakehouse, Rutherford Newsagency, Chips and More, Waterworx Swim Centre and Hunter Barbers all opening on site. Anytime Fitness has taken some more floor space to expand its gym already operating from the location.
Leasing agent Matthew Higgins from Starr Partners, Maitland said interest in the new shop fronts has been strong. "I think those who have opened up there can see the benefits of the growing western suburbs - it's always been a busy area but it continues to grow," Mr Higgins said.
Ash said her family business likes to give back to the community that is supporting them. "We love to support other small businesses and do that by supplying their products," she said. "We are also very active with supporting the community, sponsoring Aberglasslyn Ants Football players and providing raffle trays to local pubs. Each month we sponsor local schools in a crunch and sip program along with Greta Dental," she said.
