The humble carrot, grown on fertile plains on the outskirts of Maitland, are going to be the key ingredient in the Slow Food Earth Market's fifth birthday cake.
The market will celebrate the milestone on Thursday, August 5 with supporters singing Happy Birthday (with masks on) and cutting the cake in The Levee.
The action starts at 8.30am.
Each smallholder will offer a birthday special to celebrate the milestone and reflect on how far the market has come.
"We're very excited to celebrate our fifth year. We said in the beginning that if we survived the first five years we would be right," Slow Food Earth Market chairwoman Amorelle Dempster said.
