The contrary conduct charge relates to a controversial finish to the Kurri Kurri and South Newcastle game with the Bulldogs claiming there was a knock-on before Souths crossed for a match-winning try on the bell to win 22-16.

Tempers flared at the end of the match, but Hardy was the only player charged.

The Bulldogs had been sweating on possible charges to forwards Reid Alchin and Jarred Anderson who will both be available for Saturday's Coalfields clash against Cessnock at the Kurri Kurri Sportsground.

Bulldogs president Mick Alchin said the Bulldogs were keen to end the season on a bright note and there was nothing brighter than beating the Goannas and potentially denying them a home final in week of the finals.

Alchin said a tough and entertaining match was spoiled by the decision to allow the final try.

"A draw would have been a fair result," he said.

Nathan Ross made his return from injury.

Ethan Niszczot, Hardy and Tyler Randell scored tries and Niszczot kicked two conversions.

Maitland Pickers forward Daniel Ticehurst can escape a one-week suspension with an early guilty plea.

A Knights NSW Cup, Ticehurst was charged with dangerous contact with Macquarie player Matthew Moon when he was not in possession of the ball.

The charge carried a 100 point penalty (one week ban) if taken to the tribunal or 75 points with an early guilty plea.

Scorpions players Royce Geoffrey, Isaac Briggs and Jordan Noble were offered the same options after being cited for a dangerous lift on Maitland's Pat Mata'utia.
